About the product
The Foundation
Before diving into the design process, here's what Pocket PMS is, why it was built, and the impact it aims to create.
What is Pocket PMS?
Pocket PMS is a mobile-first Property Management System designed from the ground up to help hotel teams manage daily operations on the move. As a companion to the Hotelogix desktop platform, it brings reservations, guest information, and room operations into a fast, intuitive mobile experience.
Who does it serve?
Pocket PMS is built for the people who keep hotels running every day. From front desk executives and housekeeping teams to duty managers and hotel owners, the app provides role-specific tools that simplify daily operations and improve collaboration.
Why was it built?
Hotel staff spend most of their time away from the front desk, yet critical operations remained tied to desktop systems. Pocket PMS was built to eliminate these operational bottlenecks, enabling staff to complete tasks in real time without interrupting their workflow.
Business Goal
The objective of Pocket PMS was to extend the Hotelogix ecosystem beyond desktop and create a seamless mobile experience for hotel operations. By improving accessibility and productivity, the product helps hotels operate more efficiently while laying the foundation for future mobile capabilities.
The Opportunity
There's a better way to run hotels.
Hotel teams move all day long — but their tools don't. Outdated systems create friction, delays and missed opportunities.
My Approach
Designing for speed, not screens.
Rather than shrinking a desktop POS onto a phone, I redesigned the experience around how restaurant staff actually work—constantly moving between tables, taking orders, and making quick decisions during peak service hours.
Every interaction was designed around the tasks that happen hundreds of times during a shift.
Prioritized for speed
Only the actions users needed in the moment were surfaced, helping them complete tasks without navigating through unnecessary screens.
Clear at a glance
A strong visual hierarchy made reservations, orders, and table status instantly scannable, reducing cognitive load during busy hours.
One-handed by design
Navigation, touch targets, and key actions were optimized for comfortable single-hand use while staff moved around the restaurant floor.
Reduced interaction cost
High-frequency workflows were simplified by removing unnecessary steps and keeping primary actions consistently within thumb's reach.
Design System
